How An Award-Winning Construction Company Began With A Single Dump Truck

Some children play with dump trucks. Some kids grow up and buy a dump truck of their own. Or, in the case of our founder Dawn Ochman, they buy 30 dump trucks and take the construction industry by storm.

Dawn grew up in a family where working hard was a part of everyday life, and she wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty–or to take risks. She knew that both were a part of getting what you wanted out of life, and that success could come in unexpected forms. So was it any surprise to her that her first job after college was as the owner of a dump truck company–at age 25, no less? No. Her next move was to expand into a full-service construction company in Ohio.

Dawn had already shattered glass ceilings in the trucking world. Now she set her sights on becoming a full-service construction company, and was soon awarded her first construction company contract–with the Air Force. This partnership was the catalyst for an ever-growing list of other prestigious government, commercial, and industrial projects.

DAWN OCHMAN

PRESIDENT/CEO/FOUNDER

People say you know when Dawn is about to walk into a room. There’s a certain rhythm to the rapid click of her high heels that tells you she’s about to shake things up. While Dawn works harder than just about anyone we know, she also plays hard. More importantly, she cares hard. She is known as our fearless leader. Oh, and for spinning terrible puns.

Outside of the office, you might find her playing volleyball, spending time with her family, or vacationing somewhere tropical.

ASHLEY SWIPAS

ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR

When construction projects feel like hurricanes, Ashley is the calm in the storm. She joined the team right after college and keeps Dawn Incorporated running smoothly without hardly breaking a sweat. But pay close attention! Her dry sense of humor and one-liners might just make you laugh so hard you fall off your chair.

When she’s not working, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She is an animal lover who has two dogs, Eddie and Henley. Instead of planning construction projects, you might find her planning her next travel adventure. Bora Bora tops her global adventures wish list!

BRENDAN SOLARZ

VICE PRESIDENT

In construction, managing complex projects is a bit like herding cats. Lucky for us, we have Brendan as our VP of Operations. He not only makes sure that our project managers are supplied with the manpower, materials, and equipment that they need, but he does so with care. His hard-working ethic and honest approach to good old-fashioned hard work have earned him the respect of construction crews and clients alike.

He spends time with his wife and son on the weekends, but don’t be surprised if you catch him in the cab of an excavator on an idle Saturday.

Chris is an expert at planning projects from concept to completion. He has the kind of communication style that forms long-term relationships and puts everyone at ease. Chris is a consistent, humble team player with an eye for quality.

Chris loves to spend time at home with his wife and two daughters, whipping up a batch of homemade sauerkraut or his own specialty ice cream. He even brews his own beer! His culinary masterpieces are only one of the reasons Chris is such a popular guy here at the office and on job sites.
